ASIAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP 2004
2nd TIMED PRACTICE - CAMERON DONALD TAKES POLE
The 2nd Timed Practice session for Round 4 of the FIM Asia Road
Racing Championship commenced at the Sepang International Circuit
amidst a torrential downpour.
Conditions were rapidly drying by the time the SuperSports 600cc
riders went out on track and the premier class riders were the only
ones who managed to improve on their laptimes.
Australian rider Cameron Donald was in his element in the semi-wet
conditions of the track as he qualified for his first pole position
of the season with the fastest laptime of 01:13.531. His team mates
Masayuki Yamanaka and Hendriansyah also bagged their respective
spots on the front row when they clocked 2nd fastest (01:13.840)
and 3rd fastest (01:14.842) respectively.
“The weather has caused havoc with the bike settings because we use
different settings for different weather conditions. We had a bit
of a struggle on Friday, but everything seems to have come together
very well for today’s qualifying practice. After finishing so many
times in either 2nd or 3rd place in the previous races, I am
relishing the chance to score a double victory here in Sepang,”
said Cameron.
