RACE REPORT

Cameron Donald wins at the 2006 Des D'Arcy Motor Skerries 100 & smashes lap record !!!

(2nd July 2006)

On Saturday 1st July Cameron competed at the Skerries 100 road race in Ireland. Even as a newcomer to this track he managed to qualify pole position for the Superbike class and 2nd position for the 600 Supersport.

First up was the Senior Open, an eight lap race. Cameron got off to a great start upon his Robinson Concrete Honda and lead Finnegan, Porter and Archibald into the first corner. He managed to hold the lead for the entire race finishing 6 seconds in front of Finnegan in second place and setting a new lap record of 107.249 mph!

"I am thrilled. I only saw the track for the first time yesterday so to break the lap record is awesome. I'm looking forward to the Grand Final!"

The next race for Donald was the 600 Supersport upon his Wilson Craig Honda. Cameron started from 2nd position on the grid and went into the first corner in fourth position. Cameron held third place for most of the race but pushed through to finish 2nd only 0.4 seconds behind Porter.

"There aren't many spots on this course you can past and I didn't get the best of starts. To come through to second was great."

The final race was the 2006 Des D'Arcy Motor Skerries 100. Cameron starting again from pole position. Leading the field into the first turn but running wide, dropped to fifth position. Cameron immediately began to charge his way through the field completing lap 1 in 3rd position. Cameron knew he had to get past Finnegan and Porter as soon as possible, as due to the hot conditions the track surface was breaking up in spots resulting in Cameron being hit by many flying stones. He past Porter and then Finnegan on the entrance to the tunnel on the next two laps to take the lead and the win! Again breaking the lap record with a speed of 108.27!

"I'm so happy. Was such a great days racing and I knew it would be tough to race Martin at his home track. I never expected a win here but from my first lap, I really enjoyed the circuit and I think that helped me get up to speed so quickly.

A massive thanks to all the team as the Wilson Craig 600 and Robinson's Concrete 1000 made my job that much easier."
